Reflections On 2019

Year 2019

It’s been a massive year for the ProSport Academy and the Go-To Therapist Mentorship. As 2019 draws to a close, it’s a great time to reflect on the year and plan for 2020.

We started 2019 with one of my favorite events of the year – our 2 day refresher course. There’s nothing better than having 30 therapists in a room with no egos just striving for clinical excellence. We ran 3 refreshers in total this year, 2 here in Huddersfield and 1 in Ireland. I love these courses as it’s a great opportunity to meet everybody in the ProSport Academy family. I get to see how people are applying the system in their practice, and it also allows me to reflect on which modules are taught well, and which areas could be taught even better. Based on the feedback from these 3 courses, we have re-filmed the whole mentorship content again for 2020 so that the content is as easy as possible to digest.

We had 2 mentorship classes enrol this year, the first class in January and second class in June. This year was also the launch of Mentorship+, a new private facebook group for higher level support for mentorship members. The interaction in this group has been fantastic, and it’s really accelerated the results that therapists are getting. I really can’t wait to get started again with the first class of 2020 in January!

It’s been a big year for our Return To Play courses. We have held sold-out courses in Ireland, Scotland, London and Huddersfield this year, and due to demand we also had two RTP online live courses, which had therapists from all over the world join us via live stream at our clinic in Huddersfield to go through our full RTP system in detail.

Treatment wise, personally, I’ve had a very busy year with consultancy for professional rugby clubs, growing my clinic, taking on new therapists, opening up a new rehab gym, travelling to the US to treat golfers, and finishing off the year by travelling to Japan to work with the England Rugby Union Medical Team for the World Cup, making it all the way to the final.

I’m grateful to be able to work with some of the world’s best athletes, coaches, S+C teams, and therapists and working with these people at that level helps me refine my own system even further every time and take this back to my clinic in Huddersfield, apply it with our private patient caseload, and roll it out into the mentorship content.

It’s been a busy finish to the year, spending two days in Birmingham at Therapy Expo to speak to hundreds of therapists about the diaphragm and pelvic floor and graded exposure RTP, running the final RTP online course over 2 days, taking on another new therapist in my clinic, and re-filming the entire mentorship ready for the January class in 2020.

For 2020 we have some big plans, starting with our launch in January for the first mentorship class of the year. Watch this space ?
